Youth Activist Network
As part of the Plain Talk program, this neighborhood campaign ensures that teens have the information, skills and services they need to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.
At the core of the program is the Youth Activist Network, a team of 12 young Perth Amboy residents who educate their peers, ages 14 to 19, about healthy relationships, sexual decision-making, and how to access contraception in the local community. They deliver their message through business partnerships, text messaging and their own educational materials.
We’re on You Tube!
Want to get a taste of what the Youth Activist Network is all about? Here’s a selection of videos that show our teen peers discussing topics that are important in today’s world. For example, the safe sexting video encourages young people to ask questions anonymously and get educated, confidential answers from professionals in medicine and social services.
